Successful Conclusion of the 15th US-German Workshop on Salt Repository Research
The 15th US-German Workshop on Salt Repository Research, Design and Operation concluded on 9 October 2025, marking another milestone in transatlantic scientific cooperation. Over three days, between 80 and 90 experts from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom met online to discuss engineered barrier systems, crushed salt backfilling and advanced modelling techniques.
A total of 15 presentations were delivered, with contributions from Germany (8), the USA (4), the Netherlands (2) and the UK (1), reflecting the wide range of expertise and strong commitment to advancing salt repository research.
